14 Gyms With Free Passes and Trials

Free passes and trials are perfect when you want to try out a gym before committing to a monthly or annual membership plan.

We have spent the last few weeks calling the top gym franchises in the country to ask about their free trials and passes to provide you with the most up-to-date information. This article will make things easy for you when you’re deciding which gym to try out for free before you sign up.

The best gyms with free passes and trials are:

  • Snap Fitness
  • GoodLife Fitness
  • Anytime Fitness
  • Crunch Fitness
  • YouFit
  • Planet Fitness
  • Gold’s Gym
  • 24 Hour Fitness
  • Workout Anytime
  • Blink Fitness
  • World Gym
  • Equinox
  • YMCA
  • F45

In today’s article, I’ll provide some key things to know when you’re searching for free gym passes and other freebies that you can negotiate when you get a free pass at the gym. I’ll also cover the gyms that don’t offer any free trials or passes.

Key Things To Know When Looking For Free Gym Passes

Here are some important things to keep in mind when you’re searching for a free gym pass or trial:

  • Most Gyms Want To See A Local ID
  • You’ll Likely Have To Do A Gym Tour
  • Most Gyms Allow You To Register Online For Your Free Trials
  • The Cost of A Drop-In Can Be Put Toward Your Membership

Most Gyms Want To See A Local ID

To prevent people who are traveling through the town or city from taking advantage of free trials, most gyms ask for local IDs before producing free passes.

If you live locally to one of the gyms that we mention in this article and you want to try it out for free, make sure to take some form of ID with you. This ID should prove that you live in the local area, so it needs to have your address. Your driver’s license is a great option.

You’ll Likely Have To Do A Gym Tour

Most gyms insist that you do a gym tour before getting a free pass to help you get a feel for the gym floor, studios, and other amenities before you sign up for a membership.

Most Gyms Allow You To Register Online For Your Free Trials

To save you from having to physically go into the gym to sign up for a free pass or trial, most gyms offer the option to register for one online. All you’ll need to do is head to their website, enter a few details (usually your name, email, and phone number), and you’ll get an email with your pass.

The Cost of A Drop-In Can Be Put Toward Your Membership

In some gym franchises, you can pay for a one-off pass to try the gym out. If you choose to sign up for a full gym membership after your trial, the cost of the drop-in session will be taken off your first month’s payment.

Other Freebies You Can Usually Negotiate At The Gym

Free passes and trials aren’t the only perks available at most gyms. Other great things you can negotiate at the gym include:

  • Free Towel Service
  • Access to the Tanning Beds
  • Free Personal Training Sessions or Fitness Assessments

Free Towel Service

If the gym you’re signing up for offers a free towel service to those who are on the more expensive memberships, see if you can negotiate access to this service on the cheaper membership plans.

The gym would much rather you sign up for a basic membership with this extra freebie than not sign up at all.

Access to the Tanning Beds

You might be able to gain access to the tanning facilities at your local gym by negotiating when you sign up for a membership.

The gym might offer a free tanning session for you and your friend or ongoing limited access to the tanning beds, even if you’re on one of the cheaper membership plans.

Free PT Sessions or Fitness Assessments

When you are considering a full membership at the gym, ask whether they offer a free personal training session or fitness assessment to new starters.

It might not usually offer this, but by inquiring about these services, the gym might throw in a free session or two to encourage you to commit to a full membership.
